Top 5 Reasons You’re Not Seeing Results From Your Workout

Do you feel like you’re in a workout slump? You’re working out multiple times a week, but you’re just not seeing the results you expected. The reason for this could be a number of things, from diet to types of exercise. We’ll take a look at five of the common reasons why you may not be getting toned.

Diet

Eating healthy and the right portions is the most difficult part of losing weight or toning up. You can work out hard every day, but if you don’t maintain portion control and a healthy diet it’s likely you won’t shake that last 10 pounds. Focus on healthy foods like lean meats (chicken, fish, and turkey) as well as fruits and vegetables.

Strength Training

Don’t skip out on strength training! While cardio is easy and may seem like it burns the most calories, sometimes that isn’t always the case. Strength training is a great way to lose fat and build muscle simply by focusing on more weight and less reps at least three times a week.

Proper Hydration

You must drink enough water! How much is enough? It differs from person to person, but a good rule of thumb is to divide your weight by two and that’s how many ounces of water you should be consuming daily. The more water you drink, the easier it is to flush out toxins through urination.

Too much exercise can cause your body to constantly feel restless and prevent you from getting a good night’s rest. An increase in your resting heart rate can be one sign that you’re not getting good sleep. It’s very important to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night to let your muscles and mind rest.

Routine

Don’t get stuck in the same routine day in and day out. Your muscles get used to the same moves and need to be switched up every 6-8 weeks. Being sore from a workout because you’re changing up moves is a sign of progress.
